Wild Alaska King Salmon Fishing

June is the peak of king salmon season in Southeast Alaska, and always a exciting time of year at Steamboat Bay Fishing Club.

King Salmon Fishing Season

Also known as Chinooks, the mighty king salmon are some of the most sought-after fish of Southeast Alaska. While anglers reel them in throughout the summer, kings are most abundant in June, when they first arrive en masse in coastal waters to feed and bulk up en route to their spawning grounds.

  • 2016 Season Limits: The nonresident limit for king salmon is two fish per day, 28 inches or longer in June; one per day of that size in July and August. The annual limit for kings is six fish. For Alaska residents, the daily limit is three king salmon, 28 inches or longer. Limits are established by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game.
