Fishing Boats and Gear
A knowledgeable guide who knows the top fishing spots can make all the difference on a fishing trip. So can the right boat and gear. At Steamboat Bay, Club guests are provided with all the requisite elements of luxury Alaska sport fishing, from top guides and custom-built boats to neoprene boots and perfectly baited hooks.
While Southeast Alaska summers are usually temperate, weather can change quickly. To ensure that guests stay warm and dry under any conditions, Steamboat Bay provides a full suit of all-weather gear, including high-performance bib overalls and hooded jackets, and traditional XtraTuf neoprene boots, an Alaska mainstay.
High-Performance Rods and Reels
On the water, guests are further outfitted with high-performance Seeker rods, Shimano reels, and Eagle Claw hooks, all prepped and baited by Steamboat Bay’s expert U.S. Coast Guard licensed fishing guides.
Heated Cabin Cruisers with Private Heads
The Club’s North River fishing boats are part of the largest private fleet in Alaska. Custom-designed exclusively for Steamboat Bay, each 27-foot aluminum cabin cruiser carries no more than four guests for maximize fishing pleasure. A winch facilitates crabbing and shrimping. Dual outboard motors provide superior reliability and control, as well as ample deck space. Cabin seats equipped with shock absorbers cushion the ride. Comforts also include private heads, and, for the angler who desires some down time, each cruiser has a rear fold-down seat.
Onboard amenities range from refrigerators to microwave ovens that afford hot lunches on the water (guests may also return to the Club to dine). Satellite radios tune in to guest favorites, and charging stations are available to power up smartphones and other personal electronics.
