Fishing Guides

Among the best in Southeast Alaska, Steamboat Bay Fishing Club’s experienced guides are masterful at assisting both novice and seasoned anglers.

U.S. Coast Guard trained and licensed, they captain your heated cabin cruiser, find the fish, offer instruction on Alaska-style technique, bait your hook, and help bring in the catch—from king and silver salmon to halibut, lingcod, and rockfish. Through their expertise, our guides ensure that your luxury Alaska sport-fishing experience is exciting, rewarding, safe, comfortable, and customized to individual preference.

Custom Itineraries and Expert Service

Should you wish to add a bit of whale watching to your day, or take a midday break to dine back at the Club, or spend an afternoon photographing the majestic coastal scenery, your guide will make that happen.

“Fish in style thanks to expert guides ... who find you the best fishing spots, bait a newbie’s hook, or do just about anything else necessary to make the trip timeless. A once-in-a-lifetime Alaska adventure.”

Forbes Travel Guide

Guides also provide snacks, beverages, and picnic-style lunches; take on-board and Club lunch orders; and review fish-trimming options with you, passing along your preferences (whether steaks, fillets, butterfly fillets, or whole fish) to our professional seafood-processing crew.

Moreover, Steamboat Bay’s boats and guides network with those of our sister property, Waterfall Resort, on nearby Prince of Wales Island, together forming the largest private fleet in Alaska—with more eyes on the water than any other fishing lodge to put you on the bite.
